When I joined The New Homes Group my brief was quite simply to bring in-house all recruitment functions with a simple target of attracting the UK’s best candidates.
The New Homes Group is a large and successful business and over the last 4 years has grown to more than 500 employees. What I really like about the business is that uniquely it has the feel of working for a smaller family run type business where employees matter and importantly have a voice.
I strongly believe this ethos is key in attracting the people to work in the business.

Darren Robins
I joined The New Homes Group in May 2018, having previously worked in the recruitment sector for over 11 years where I have worked for a variety of large and small companies both in the public and private sectors. I can honestly say no two days are the same and I cannot express enough how fulfilling working for The New Homes Group has been for me, my role and that of my team who continue to recruit the very best candidates who are looking for a long term, rewarding career.
My journey has only just begun at The New Homes Group, having recently joined the recruitment team. My main focus is to manage the recruitment for the Trainee Mortgage Adviser Academies which will be keeping me busy throughout the year. I cannot wait to get stuck into this, as we are offering such a unique and exciting opportunity for candidates to kick start and fast track their career as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser. My journey with The New Homes Group began in February 2020, just one month before the global pandemic which not only resulted in the team working from home but also presented new challenges with job uncertainty throughout the country and most recruitment opportunities being put on hold! I only had one year of previous recruitment experience and being new to the role and company, this was an uncertain time for me too, however my first month of training was excellent and I already felt like a valued member of the team. I was offered the opportunity in July 2020 to gain some experience working on the Helpline team with New Homes Mortgage Helpline, where I stayed for around 3 months before returning to my role in the Recruitment Team. My time spent with the Helpline team was invaluable and gave me a good insight into the mortgage process and the high standard of service our customers receive, so now having a solid understanding of the role really helps when recruiting for that role. I started at TNHG as a Recruitment Resourcer and my main objective was to recruit Helpline Mortgage Specialists, and Mortgage and Protection Advisers for our new build mortgage brands. After just 1 year I was promoted to Talent Acquisition Consultant, my focus is recruiting the best talent for our remortgage brand, IMH. This has really allowed me to refine my skillset as a recruiter as IMH have clear and concise criteria that we need to consider when speaking with any potential candidates. I also assist in the quarterly recruitment for our Trainee Mortgage Adviser Academy, which is very full on but incredibly rewarding as this gives candidates the opportunity to kick start and fast track their career as a Mortgage Adviser! I really enjoy being part of such a large and expanding company that still has a family feel to it. The recruitment team is fairly small in contrast to the wider business, however we remain well connected to all of the different brands and senior management team alike, who are all extremely approachable and always have time for us. The progression opportunities throughout the business are second to none and I truly believe if you are looking for a long and rewarding career within Financial Services, The New Homes Group is the place to be.

I joined the internal recruitment team in April 2022 and look after the New Build Adviser roles. Having come from a recruitment background, but not in the financial market, it was a little daunting at first but Darren and the rest of the team have been amazing. From day one I was made to feel welcome and given all the support I’ve needed. I started with New Homes Mortgage Helpline in 2007 as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser before my promotion to Sales Manager. When I started with NHMH, we were a growing company, I had 3 years’ experience in the industry, and felt a relative novice, however what was really beneficial to me I was suddenly surrounded by some very experienced and successful Advisers, I learnt more in my first 6 months at NHMH than I had learnt in the previous 3 years. The training and support I received from my Sales Manager and other Advisers was phenomenal.
Since 2007, I have seen the company grow in a really positive way. The extra IT support, company cars, pension scheme and employee perks are great, and although we have grown and we are all based across the country, the company still has a sense of togetherness.
All in all, the proof for me is that after 15 years I still want to be here, I still enjoy working for NHMH and am overjoyed to now be taking up the role as Sales Director.
